Quick Announcements:

Buckman's Green Initiative Buckmans Green Initiative Water Treatment Chemical Supplier, Ice Melt Distributor, Pool Chemical Supplier

We are proud to be part of the movement to “Go Green”! From our solar project to our recycling program, the Buckman’s Incorporated Green Initiative is leading the way in Pennsylvania.

Buckman’s, Inc. is proud to have a state-of-the-art 1.288 megawatt solar energy system at our corporate headquarters in Pottstown, PA! The roof-mounted, ground-mounted and canopy mounted solar array converts sunlight into electricity, supplementing the power needed to run our sodium hypochlorite manufacturing facility.

The solar energy system produces 1,610,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year from 6,334 high efficiency photovoltaic solar modules. By using electricity from a clean, renewable energy source, Buckman’s Inc will offset 2.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide a year. This is equivalent to conserving over 127,300 gallons of gasoline annually.

The renewable energy project was made possible in part by a grant from the State of Pennsylvania as well as the Federal Government.

The next time you visit our corporate headquarters, be sure to stop by the main office to view a video screen which displays real-time statistics on the energy produced and the resulting reduction of environmental pollutants.

In addition to utilizing available renewable energy technology, Buckman’s Inc. actively recycles our paper and plastic products. In seven months last year we collected, bundled and recycled over 3.23 tons of paper products, 19.14 tons of corrugated materials and 38.5 tons of plastic.

The products we sell require the use of many plastic carboy containers, corrugated boxes and many other paper supplies that are needed in our warehouses and corporate offices. By making this concerted effort over 60 tons of waste each year are no longer sent to a landfill but are recycled and re-used.

Recently Buckman's Inc. participated in a program offered by Peco to help lower our energy consumption. The program combines Peco's expertise with other incentives for companies like Buckman's Inc., helping them analyze the way they use power and identify ways to help them become more energy efficient.

For Buckman's Inc. this involved upgrading the types of lighting fixtures used in our warehouse and sodium hypochlorite production plant.

Over 80 fixtures were changed from the old style of lighting to newer, more efficient lighting technology. This saves over 43,500 kilowatts annually.

In addition to these changes, motion sensors were added to further reduce our power usage in areas of our warehouse not frequently traveled by our warehouse personnel.
