Chlorine added to swimming pool water will dissipate
with time. To slow the burn off of your chlorine by the sun’s rays, you need to
add a chemical known as a ‘Stabilizer’ to your pool water.
Cyanuric Acid will act as a pool chlorine stabilizer
when properly applied. Think of it like sunblock for your pool, partially
surrounding the chlorine on a molecular level to protect the chlorine and
prevent it from being rapidly dissipated by the
sun.
The Stabilizer level of swimming pool water must be
maintained at 30-50 ppm. While the Stabilizer level is important, it is
typically only tested at the beginning of the swimming season when a pool is
opened.
